Adding files to version control

SVN will only manage files you tell it to handle. This is useful, as many projects tend to have temporary files in the repository folder, from temporary build files to personal notes. SVN will remind you of unmanaged files during commits, giving you a chance to add them to the repository before a final commit.

To add a file to the repository execute the following command

svn add REPOSITORY/FILE

REPOSITORY is your repository folder, for example ~/Documents/d445b.

FILE is the filename or path plus filename.

Examples:

svn add ~/Documents/d445b/report.pdf

svn add ~/Documents/d445b/folder/report.pdf

Files added to the repository will be made available for others after the next commit.
