Windows 10 Versions

About Windows 10

When Microsoft released Windows 10 they also changed the way they upgrade the OS. Windows is now upgraded every 6 months, instead of every 4 years.

All new versions of Windows are approved for different "branches".

These branches define what updates are available and when they must be installed.

Windows 10 has 2 different branches.

Name

Description

Current Branch (CB)

Updates are made available as soon as they are released. Used for personal computers

Current Branch for Business (CBB)

Updates are made available when the have been used by CB for around 4 months. This branch is more stable than CB

All our Windows 10 computers use latest CBB version to ensure compatibility. This means that you may not always have the latest version on your PC, but ITS (and our partners) are able to test systems and features without interrupting your work.

This table show what branches are available to the different versions of Windows
