Office 2016 upgrade
The new Office 2016 upgrade is now available for installation on select devices. The following instructions will guide you through the installation process.
Office 2016 is Microsoft’s latest version of the Office suite; the upgraded version includes new functions and a number of improvements and optimisations. You’ll find more information about Office 2016 on the official website office.com. (https://products.office.com/en-us/professional)
You can start the installation process and upgrade to Office 2016 yourself, but if you need our assistance, you’re always welcome to contact ITS Support at (+45) 9940 2020.
Depending on the speed of your computer, the installation process may take up to 30 minutes. You may import your previous settings to Office 2016.
- Before starting the installation process remember to close all Office programs (e.g. Work, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) and other programs such as Visio, Project and Skype for Business.
- Launch the Software Center from your start menu by typing “Software Center” in the search box or by selecting:
Start Menu -> All Programs -> AAU IT Services -> Software Center
- Select Microsoft Office 2016
- Select Install
- The installation process will now begin; depending on the speed of your computer, this process may take up to 30 minutes. As long as you don’t launch any of the Office programs, you may continue to use your device during the installation process.
When “Installed” appears, Office 2016 has been installed on your device. Once the installation process is complete, we recommend you to restart your computer.
When the new version of Office has been installed on your computer, Windows will automatically install the latest security updates for Office 2016; the status of these updates will appear in the Software Center.
If you use Skype for Business you must re-install this after having upgraded to Office 2016. Launch the Software Center, select Skype for Business and press Install.
