Windows 7 or Vista and Internet Explorer

For installing the VPN client through Internet Explorer in Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you must open Internet Explorer as an administrator. (click here if you want to use another browser)

  • Right click on Internet Explorer and select “Run as administrator”,
  • Log on to https://ssl-vpn1.aau.dk using your AAU email address and password.

Once you are logged in, the installation will start automatically using ActiveX; this is usually followed by a warning message. Click on the yellow bar and select Install ActiveX Control [...]

Select yes in the dialogue box.

The installation will now finish automatically and throughout the installation process, you may notice a few windows briefly appearing.
When the yellow padlock appears in your taskbar, you are connected to VPN.

The next time you wish to access VPN, you can do so by selecting Start -> All Programs -> Cisco -> Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client or by clicking on the icon in the Windows taskbar (bottom-right corner).

If the installation failed, you may not have administrator rights to install software on the computer. If you have administrator rights and have previously installed software on your computer, you may need to follow the instructions for using Windows 7 or Windows Vista and Internet Explorer.
