Access rights to individual files in Panopto

Find one of your own videos in Panopto. If you mouse-over the video, you will see a row of buttons to the right of the image.

A video in Panopto will automatically be hidden if it is not viewed for two years, and will be deleted if not viewed after three years.

    1. Clicking “Indstillinger” (Settings) will give information about the video and options to customise the settings. With the option “Oversigt” (Overview) from the menu, you can e.g.

      • Choose whether the video can be downloaded and by whom
      • Choose when the video should be available.

A video in Panopto will automatically be hidden if it is not viewed for two years, and will be deleted if not viewed after three years.

    2. By clicking “Del” (Share), you can see who has access to your video. There are three roles and the parent folder determines who holds these.

      • Creator — can create, upload and edit videos.
      • Publisher — can approve created/edited videos.
      • Viewer — can watch videos.

As a rule, if your video is in “Min Mappe” (My Folder), you are the only one who will be able to see the files. You have the role of Creator and Publisher. There is no viewer.

To share the file with others, click the arrow to the right of the box “Bestemte personer” (Specified people).

Choose who you want to share with from the list.

If these are specific individuals, you should invite these people through “Inviter personer” (Invite people). They do not need to be employees at AAU.

The people you invite will receive an email with a link to the video. If your video is in a folder from a Moodle course, all students on that Moodle course will be able to view the file (they will have the Viewer role), teachers in the Moodle course will be able to edit the file (they will have the Creator role) and others will only be able to see the file when they click the link. If the link directs to a file in “Min Mappe” (My Folder), the recipients of the link will only be able to view the file, not edit it.

    3. By clicking the “Rediger” (Edit) button, you can use Panopto’s built-in editing tools on the video.

    4. Clicking the “Statistik” (Statistics) button will show e.g. how many views the video has had.

    5. With the “Slet” (Delete) button, you can delete your video from Panopto.
